Goodbye to the Galapagos

This really was an amazing trip. I'm so glad we did it. In addition to all of the land animals, we snorkeled several times, seeing a plethora of beautiful iridescent fish, sting rays, giant sea turtles, sharks, little penguins and sea lions in the water. Some days it felt like we were on a movie set - like the evening the dolphins swam with the boat just as a beautiful sunset was happening, or when the Orca whale family showed up off their normal course, and out of season - and it just happened to be at the same time that we were having our champagne toast on the deck, so everyone got to see. Or on the one night the boat was allowed to turn off all of its lights the night was crystal clear and we could see what seemed like every single star in the sky. My favorite was the GIANT sting ray that jumped out of the water on one of our last days. We were in a Zodiac on our back to the ship from snorkeling. At first I thought it was a whale's tale it was so big and graceful.
Here, Gabriel is sporting his new Galapagos bandana from the beloved Bob and Sang. You'll see it a lot in the Argentina pictures to follow. It kept him cool on many a day, wetted and tied jauntily about his neck in imitation of Sang's hip style.
