Big Sis meets little g

Pixs from Bailey's first visit with Gabriel. She was an AWESOME big sister, talking to g, calming him, playing peekaboo, and even taking on the diaper duty! During g's sunbathing time on Monday morning, she had the opportunity to hold him naked...and thus, get peed on (this is an honor in our family). :-)

6 weeks old

It's been a week since my last post. I am slacking, for sure. My apologies. It's just that we seem to be having very full days now that little g is old enough to get out of the house, yet young enough to stay asleep most of the time that he's out. For example, when we took him out to a fancy dinner on Sunday night to Gary Denko's for Valentine's Day...he slept through the whole meal (this was a very good thing...no crayons at Gary Denko...I'm guessing not that many babies/kids go there). Then there's yoga class on Tues & Fri, and we went hiking in Redwood Park twice, and of course, there is the coffee shop. This week we even took a stroll down Fruitvale Ave to get beneige's (sp?) at Powderface. Thursday night Susan and Kirk came for dinner and a squeeze (Kirk's first squeeze). Then Friday we saw G's Tia Silvia for a squeeze, and then that night we were out to dinner for Naomi's birthday (and Nicholas had his first chance to hold G). Tomorrow Bailey will meet Gabriel for the first time. We are so excited about that!!! Finally, it turns out that G likes country music, and finds the song "If You're Gonna Play in Texas (You Gotta Have a Fiddle in the Band)" to be a lovely lullaby.

Here are some pictures for ya...

Look at me looking around!

The biggest thing this week is that Gabriel has really started looking around and taking inventory of his environment. This includes lifting his head to check things out when he is on his belly on the floor or on our legs, and looking around when we are holding him over our shoulders. We have also learned that he likes being upsidedown (sometimes).

Getting Ready to go Out

Here are a few pixs of me & g getting ready to go out (two separate occasions -- we try to go out locally (walking) rather than drive to avoid the whole carseat thang (note the crying baby in the last photo), but there are times when driving is necessary).

Party Boy

Gabriel attended his first party last Saturday night -- Steve & Kate's housewarming. To get in the party mood, he wore his rockin' ac/dc (ab/cd) onesie. He was the life of the party, sleeping through the entire event (except when he was eating).

My Tia Made My Belly Button

A few pixs from Feb 3rd where Gabriel is showing off his belly button, his muscular chest, and his wiggly bottom!

One Month Old Today

Today is Gabriel's one month birthday (in calendar months). We also recognized his one month birthday on the Lunar calendar last Saturday. He is enjoying hearing the happy birthday song. Bailey sang him happy birthday tonight over the phone. We are all looking forward to seeing Bailey when she is here for President's Week school break. That will be her first time meeting Gabriel (outside the womb).

Here's a picture from today -- we are hoping to take pictures every month on this blanket to measure how much he is growing. He changes so much each day now. He weighed 9 lbs on Friday, and he seems so much taller each time we put him in his carseat.

He is looking around a lot more now, and even looked at his mobile and a few toys. Today, we went to a momma/baby yoga class. The mommas did exercises and yoga, and the babies got a baby massage. It was a really great class that we all enjoyed! Here he is looking around while in the moby wrap with Noelani...
